Alan Coleman, DMD

My Mission

"I am dedicated to working collaboratively with my patients to restore and maintain dental structure and function.  I particularly enjoy how dentistry combines art and science in order to create beautiful, healthy smiles."

Education

Alan W. Coleman DMD is a native of Limestone County. After graduating from Birmingham-Southern College with a BS in Chemistry, he attended dental school at the University of Alabama and finished in June of 1983. He went on to complete a residency in Prosthodontics (removable dentures and partials) at the VA Center. In July of 1984, he opened his own private practice right here in Athens, Alabama and has not stopped learning and expanding his practice. Dr. Coleman completed a two-year Orthodontic Program with the American Orthodontic Society in 1986 and is currently a Recognized Provider of Six Month Smiles® and Invisalign.

Continuing Education & Professional Memberships

Dr. Coleman is a member of the American Academy of Laser Dentistry, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the Academy of Facial Esthetics.

Dr. Coleman has studied Neuromuscular Occlusion at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute in order to provide the highest quality of care for patients who suffer from head and neck pain. He has also received advanced training in the use of Botox for the treatment of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, headaches, and migraines.

Life & Hobbies

When Dr. Coleman is not in the office, you can usually find him on a golf course with his son, Wes, or on a video call with his daughter, Mary Ellen, who is a missionary living abroad. At other times, he may be in Nashville visiting his daughter, Allison, who teaches special needs preschoolers, or he may be enjoying a concert with his son, Michael, who studies music at the University of North Alabama.

Samuel Deatherage, DMD

My Mission

"I am committed to providing the highest level of dental care to my patients in a comfortable, calming environment.  I find special satisfaction in helping anxious patients feel at ease so they can enjoy the benefits of optimum oral health."

Education

A graduate of the University of Alabama Dental School, Dr. Deatherage practiced in Missouri for over 15 years before he decided to sell his practice and join Dr. Coleman in Athens.

Life & Hobbies

Dr. Deatherage has two passions in life: helping those who are experiencing dental pain and hunting grizzly bears, goats, deer, and turkey.
